Beach Flag Status

Key:   Note: Flags are updated periodically each day. Refresh your browser for most recent information 
 Green A GREEN FLAG indicates there are calm conditions. Caution should always be exercised when entering the water.   
 Yellow A YELLOW FLAG indicates there is a moderate surf and/or currents. Caution should always be exercised when entering the water.
 Red A RED FLAG indicates the water is closed to the public due to the high surf and/or strong currents. Rip currents are especially prevalent and dangerous along the piers. Fines issued for persons in the water during RED flag conditions.
 Grey2 A GRAY FLAG appearing on a map indicates that either no information is available, conditions are not being monitored (9pm-9am), or the Beach Safety Program is out-of-season (Sept. 15 - May 15).
SH-gate-open A GREEN/OPEN GATE indicates a pier is open to the public. 
SH-gate-closed A RED/CLOSED GATE indicates a pier is closed to the public. Fines issued for persons on a pier that is closed. 



Conditions are monitored between 9am and 9pm.  Physical flags and gates are authoritative, representing the current Beach Safety Program status information. Changes to flags and gates are made physically prior to being reflected online, with delays possible in the information above.
